Dental implants consist of expertly crafted porcelain replacement teeth fastened to posts that are anchored—like natural teeth—in the jawbone. Implant therapy is appropriate when the supporting structure of your natural teeth has become damaged or weakened, or when one or more natural teeth are missing.
Dental implant procedures occur over a period of several months. First, the permanent implant is placed in the bone, allowing sufficient time for the surrounding gum tissue to completely heal. In some instances during this period, you are provided with temporary teeth to maintain normal dental functioning and appearance. Then, once the implants are fully healed, new porcelain teeth are securely fastened to the implants using the most advanced dental adhesives to complete the procedure.

Periodontics is the specialized branch of dentistry concerned with the care and treatment of gums and bone structures that support the teeth. The practice of periodontics involves both surgical and non-surgical procedures to help patients maintain healthy teeth and gums, as well as the planning, placement, and maintenance of dental implants. Dr. Livia Silvestri, Periodontist
Our in—house periodontist, Dr. Livia Silvestri, has completed numerous implant treatments in collaboration with Dr. Jordan Soll.
Dr. Silvestri earned her combined Clinical Periodontics / Master of Science degree at the University of Toronto after obtaining her D.D.S. degree from McGill University in Montreal. She has an interest in bone regeneration and implant surgery, as well as tissue and bone reconstruction in preparation for esthetic prosthetic rehabilitation. Dr. Silvestri is an active member of the Canadian and American Academies of Periodontology, and is a part—time clinical instructor in the Department of Periodontics, University of Toronto.
